Perfectly polished tips and toes!

DEBT MOM WANTS TO KNOW: “DO YOU HAVE PERFECTLY POLISHED TIPS AND TOES?”

That’s the question today, are your nails manicured? If so, did you use a credit card to pay for your appointment? Paying for manicures and pedicures can really add up.

A standard pedicure with polish service might cost $35-50 with tip included. Then there’a special polish, gels, or designs to consider. Going once a month, you’d spend over $400 a year… and if you’re using a credit card to pay, you’ll add an additional 20% to that amount at least.

Manicures are even more expensive with the options of acrylics, gels, tips… and many salons have separate charges for designer shaping. You could be paying $60-90 every appointment. If you go every 3 weeks for a “fill” that’s approximately 17 services a year. That math adds up to over $1000 a year. And if you’re in debt, some things have to removed from your “lifestyle” choices.

I know it’s nice to have perfectly polished tips and toes. But if you’re in debt, then that’s something you need to give up paying monthly for. It might not seem as glamorous to do your nails at home, but it’s definitely more cost effective. Maybe giving your hands and feet a break and doing them at home could give your credit card a break too!

There are a few great home manicure systems that can give great results. I’ve used the Dazzle Dry nail system and have had nails last 1 to 2 weeks. I’ve used OPI on my toes, and have gotten 2 weeks before wanting to re do them again. Kiara Sky is a good “dip powder” system that gives an acrylic like strength to nails at home… Nailboo also offers multiple options for salon like nail systems. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, pun intended.

All of these products could help you save money. By doing your manicures at home, as most cost about as much as 1 or 2 visits to the nail salon! Just something to think about, and a way to help save while still wanting to feel pretty and presentable.

Also bonus perk- doing your nails at home allows you to give your nails a breather between shellacking them with a coat of paint.

There are also a lot of newer products on the market that are more beneficial to your overall nail health rather than covering them up with acrylic. So if you’re in debt, try spending a little less and pay off a little more. You’d be surprised how a little change can begin to make a big difference!

So if you’re looking for more ideas on how to save, let me know!
