DEBT MOM WANTS TO KNOW: HOW MANY SALES EMAILS DO YOU RECEIVE EVERY DAY, EVERY WEEK OR EVERY MONTH?
My personal inbox is ever growing. I get so much “junk mail” it’s frustrating! No matter how many times I mark as spam or unsubscribe, there seems to be even more sales emails on the way. My least favorite are the companies that email a sale every day, or sometimes multiple times a day. As if I’m going to cave into the FOMO of their “big sale” and spend money on things I don’t need.
A really easy way to stop spending, is to stop falling for the sales.
Read that again… I’ll wait.
You see, all those marketing emails you’re getting on the daily are just sneaky little ways to lure your money out of your hands, or from your awaiting credit cards. If you didn’t see the sale, did it even happen? It seems like every day there’s a new sale or markdown or special happening at every online store. And don’t get me started with the “online exclusive” trap. If you don’t honestly need an item, then marketing and sales strategies are just there to hook you. They create a fear of missing out. And let’s be real, who doesn’t like a good deal?
So many people proclaim that they’re doing a “no buy month” or a “no buy year.” However, an easier way to stop shopping for things you probably don’t really need is to clear out your email inbox. Start breaking-up with all the different companies that consistently send you sales emails from their drip marketing campaign. Just quietly unsubscribe or if it’s difficult to unsubscribe, mark the email as spam. It’s a simple way to not only declutter your inbox, but it will remove any little temptations that might try to pop up.
Trust me, if you truly need an item, you’re most likely going to shop for it when you actually need it. And let’s be honest, there’s always a sale going on, a promo code to be found, so you’re not really missing out on anything.
So head to your inbox and find 10 companies that you get too many emails from and break the sales cycle. I’d love to know what companies send you too many sales emails. Let me know and comment down below.
